Standard Operating Procedure Table of Contents

Purpose

To house data on PHS agency-funded programs.

Procedure

IMPAC houses data on PHS-funded awards and can be accessed only by government staff; Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool Expenditures and Results (RePORTER) data are public.

Public and NIAID Staff

  • Use RePORTER -- formerly known as CRISP -- to identify specific projects and investigators or search by scientific concepts, emerging trends, and techniques. RePORTER provides a searchable database of biomedical research projects funded by PHS.
  • If you find an error in the IMPAC or RePORTER database, inform Terry Jones, tj7s@nih.gov, 301-496-1826.

NIAID Staff

  • IMPAC combines a relational database with query tools and business function modules.
  • Use IMPAC to track and review data on grants and grant applications, including summary statements. Keep in mind, you cannot email summary statements to PIs. Instead, encourage them to register with the eRA Commons where they can view statements online.
  • Follow the new NIH eRA password policy for IMPAC users who have accounts for ECB or the Query/View/Report (QVR) system. The policy requires that you use at least eight characters and change your password every 180 days. To change your password, and conform to new standards, go to the eRA change password page.
  • To access IMPAC applications:
    • With your Web browser, navigate to Lock icon: This link will not work for public visitors.IMPAC Web applications.
    • In Windows Explorer, double-click IMPAC shortcuts at S:/Shortcuts/IMPAC Applications.
    • Email the NIH Help Desk to request that they install IMPAC on your computer.
